Located in Üsküdar on Dr. Fahri Atabey Street and also known as the Atpazarı Osman Efendi Mescidi or Mustafa Kavsar Baba Mosque, the Hacı Bedel Mustafa Efendi Mosque was originally built in 1720 by Osman Efendi, a sheikh of the Mahmud Hüdayi order, featuring rubble stone walls and a wooden roof. After the original structure fell into ruin, the mosque was rebuilt in 1985 by Semiha Şakir Hanımefendi using ashlar stone in a square-plan, single-dome design supported by an octagonal drum, complete with a marble-framed arched entrance, a three-domed portico with four columns, a marble minbar, and a tiled mihrab. It is named after Hacı Bedel, who is said to have previously revived the mosque before falling as a martyr during the Gallipoli Campaign. Between 2020 and 2021, Kalyon Holding commissioned a modern renovation spanning a 1,300-square-meter area that opened the front and side courtyards to the public realm, integrating layered open prayer spaces and generous eaves to seamlessly connect the corner-plot precinct with the adjacent municipal square. This contemporary transformation reinterprets the single minaret with a modern expression and decorates the interior walls with an abstracted pattern language that evokes traditional ornamentation without direct historical imitation.
