Miniatürk, located along the Golden Horn in the Sütlüce district of Istanbul, serves as a significant open-air museum that encapsulates the architectural heritage of Turkey and the former Ottoman territories. Opened in May 2003 and designed by architect Dr. M. Murat Uluğ, the park features over 130 meticulously crafted models at a 1/25 scale, representing iconic structures from various eras including the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods. By bringing together diverse landmarks like the Hagia Sophia, Selimiye Mosque, and the Temple of Artemis, Miniatürk offers a condensed historical narrative of Anatolian civilizations and provides a unique perspective on the evolution of urban identity and monumental design within a single, accessible landscape.
