The DoubleTree by Hilton Istanbul – Old Town, completed in 2010 and designed by BG Architects under the leadership of Bünyamin Derman, represents a significant modern architectural intervention within the dense urban fabric of the Beyazıt district. Situated on the historic Ordu Avenue, the project was designed to harmonize with the layered history of the peninsula while providing a contemporary hospitality experience. The building’s architectural language is defined by its rhythmic facade, which utilizes a sophisticated combination of stone and glass to mirror the masonry traditions of the surrounding heritage sites while maintaining a clean, modernist aesthetic. Because it occupies a sensitive location within the historic city walls, the design adheres to strict height regulations through a carefully calculated massing that respects the silhouette of the old city. The interior organization focuses on maximizing natural light and creating a sense of spatial fluidity, serving as a notable example of how international standards of luxury can be integrated into a restricted and culturally significant urban context without compromising architectural integrity.
