Constructed in 1540 by the legendary Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, the Zeyrek Çinili Hamam stands as a premier example of 16th-century Ottoman bathing culture and architectural ingenuity. Commissioned by the renowned Admiral Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa, this twin bathhouse is located in the historic Zeyrek neighborhood of Istanbul and is celebrated for its once-extensive Iznik tile decorations that gave the building its name. Architecturally, the structure follows a classical double-bath layout with symmetrical sections for men and women, featuring soaring domes, intricate marble craftsmanship, and a sophisticated heating system. Following extensive modern restorations, the hammam remains a vital piece of the city’s cultural heritage, blending functional urban utility with the refined aesthetic elegance characteristic of Sinan’s early period.
