Eyüp Cultural Center is expressed “as a kind of structural landscape component,” compensating for the differences in levels between a pedestrian path and the sea with a wooden ramp on the waterfront of the Golden Horn, in Eyüp. This ramp appears to connect the roof of the buildings with a basin situated in front of the strcuture. The site is particularly popular for weddings (one takes place every fifteen minutes during operation hours) because of its proximity to the Eyüp Sultan Tomb and Mosque, where prayer is part of the ritual after the nuptials. The combination of cultural events with marriages guarantees a constant flow of visitors, numbering in the hundreds every day.
